No need to add milk or sugar, and the flavours blend together beautifully.
(4) Milk Lovers! If you enjoy milk in your coffee, try adding the milk to the cup before making your cup of Moccona SENSEO® coffee and finish with a small stir at the end. This little trick, leaves the creamy coffee crèma layer intact, capturing the aromas and flavours in the coffee and reduces the cooling effect of cold milk straight from the fridge
(5) Café Tricks for a Hot Cup — Always wondered why your cup is nearly too hot to touch in a café? The Secret is simple. Your cup was pre-heated with hot water first, before preparing your cup of coffee. Fresh ground coffee as used in cafes and in Moccona SENSEO® coffee pods, shouldn’t be brewed at too high a temperature as it can create a “burnt coffee taste”. So if you want your cup of coffee to stay hotter longer, try this quick little “Café trick”.
(6) The EXTRA BIG Cup — Feel the need for an extra large cup of Moccona SENSEO® coffee.Place 2 pods in the “2 pod holder”, (ensuring the pods line up in the centre and do not touch the brewing pressure seal), take a mug of approx 280ml and if you take milk add a dash first into the empty mug. Place the mug under the spout, close the lid and press the “2 cup button”Enjoy!
(7) Keeping It Fresh — Fresher coffee means more flavour!Moccona SENSEO® coffee pods are filled with ground coffee beans. It is important to keep the coffee fresh to maximise the coffee flavour, keeping it away from air and moisture. Always reseal your Moccona SENSEO® coffee packet, and/or store in an air tight container, in a dark dry cupboard. Never place coffee in the fridge or freezer.
(8) A Touch of ChocolateTo add a touch of professionalism to your next Moccona SENSEO® coffee, try sprinkling drinking chocolate powder on top. Your family and friends are sure to be impressed by your creative flare and newly found expertise in coffee making.
(9) Make mine a Mocha — If you’re not sweet enough?Capture the taste of a Mocha. Add either drinking chocolate powder dissolved in hot water or drinking chocolate curls into your SENSEO® cup first and then make your cup of Moccona SENSEO® coffee as per normal. Mmmm…. Coffee and Chocolate make a great combination. Finish off with a dusting of chocolate powder on top.
(10) Too Much WaterAlways be attentive when filling the water tank/reservoir on your Philips SENSEO® coffee pod machine. It is essential that you do not fill your tank/reservoir beyond the recommended ‘four cup maximum’ indicator. You will find the water tank/reservoir is positioned on a diagonal and therefore if overfilled, there is the possibility of water overflowing into other functions within the Philips SENSEO® coffee pod machine.
(11) Does my Senseo® appliance need to be descaled?
Yes. Descaling is an important element in Senseo maintenance. It should be done at least once every three months, up to six times a year!
Keeping your Senseo free of scale will:
• Ensure you have maximum cup volume
• Ensure you have maximum coffee temperature
• Make your Senseo produce less sound while brewing
• Prevent your Senseo from malfunctioning
• Prolong your Senseo's life.
The descaling process takes about one hour and should not be interrupted. Only a descaling agent based on citric acid can be used safely in the Senseo. Other agents, including vinegar, may damage your appliance or not remove the scale entirely. If the procedure is not performed correctly, scale residue may remain in the machine. This causes scale to build up more quickly and may cause permanent and irreparable damage to the machine.
For the right procedure to descale your type of Senseo, see attached document.
